Medical Mission - Haiti
Charlie Collins
We had an awesome trip to Haiti . God was with us all the way. We were able to get everything thru customs without one bag being opened. It was extremely hot in Haiti and thousands are living in tents and tarp covered little homes. We had 2 days of medical clinics in the community of Pernier, Haiti. The nurses were able to see over 150 people with all kinds of medical problems. We gave away lots of medicine that these people would never have been able to purchase or receive with out this mission trip

God allowed us to be part of a great miracle the first day. A mother found out we were having a clinic and her daughter was very sick so she carried her in her arms to our clinic.
This young lady's name was Francis and she was about 11 years old. When she arrived in her mothers arms, you could tell she was very sick. The nurses, Casey and Breanne, put her on the examination table and starting taking her temperature.
When her temperature rose above 105.5, the nurses went into emergency mode. They started washing the little girl down with alcohol. Tina and I were asked to help by fanning her to try to get her temperature down. (We even got the ice out of the drinking water cooler and put it in plastic bags to put on her.) They had to get her temperature down fast!
She could have died, but God had other plans. After one hour we were able to get her temperature down to 103.5 and we asked for a vehicle to take her to the hospital. After we got the temperature down to 101.4 we put her in the car to the hospital. We told her mother we would stop by that afternoon and check on her in the hospital.
They admitted her in the hospital and after 4 days she started to get better. She was diagnosed with "Typhoid Fever". If the nurses had not been able to get her temperature down, she could have died that day. Eleven year old Francis is OK today, because God allowed us to be in Pernier that day and be a part of a great miracle.

Coten, Haiti
Coten is a village we have been helping that is about 30 miles away from Pernier , Haiti . It is a very primitive village and these people have little or nothing. We have been helping with food and we just finished their church building. This building was started by a missions group in 2001. And when all the trouble started in 2004, they left it with the blocks only half-way completed.
The people in Coten really needed a church building. (As you can see below, the Clinic we set up is in their current church structure.) They are very excited to see this building that will some day be a school and their church. It will also be a place to go for safety when hurricanes come. The roof is now completed. They have a dirt floor and no windows or doors, but it is much better than anything else in the area. [Dan Gipson was the American missionary that directed this construction. What a blessing to have him on our team.]

These wonderful ladies were able to help so many people, but we finally ran out of medicine. We estimated that we gave out over $5000.00 US dollars worth of medicine. In Haiti that would cost $40,000.00 Haitian dollars. Thank you Lord for allowing us to get this medicine into Haiti and be a part of this great mission trip.
